Tag Team Match
#1 Contender's Match
The Caffiends vs. GBH
A fairly back and forth match between two of the more experienced teams here in SCCW. But GBH eventually took the lead after a few minutes, isolating Sullivan Pibb after a low blow from Harper Hill while the ref’s back was turned. But despite their best efforts, they couldn’t keep Pibb down. Not even after a Russian legsweep from Miss Fortune, or a Harper Hill penalty kick. The eighth minute rolled around and Sullivan finally showed signs of life; he caught Miss Fortune’s ill-fated hurricanrana attempt and countered with a spiral bomb before tagging out!
Dresden showed off his size and strength, nearly knocking Harper Hill out of her boots with a spear before turning his attention to Fortune, and an overhead belly-to-belly suplex took her down. GBH fed for Dewey for a little while longer, before The Caffiends combined to hit Miss Fortune with a military press/gutbuster combo. But Harper made the save.
But in the end, Dewey got caught with a knee to the back as he hit the ropes. He turned to hit Harper, only to get dropped throat first across the top rope. He staggered back into a schoolboy from Miss Fortune, who put her feet on the ropes for leverage as she picked up the three count.
Winners and NEW Number One Contenders: GBH (12:21)
After the match, GBH bailed from the ring to celebrate as The Caffiends stormed around the ring protesting the decision. But the referee claims he didn’t see anything, and GBH make the belt motion around their waists as they head backstage.
Backstage…
Bricklyn Granger and Pattie Pearce are standing with Claire James. They discuss Overload, and the disappointment they faced after losing to GBH, adding that they’re saddened to see the same team just cheat their way to a number one contendership. But The Swole Mates promise their face they’ll bounce back soon enough, as Bricklyn assures the Jones Sisters that they’re in for a challenge tonight.
The subject changes to Pattie’s entry in the Young Guns Cup, as Claire asks her what she expects. Pearce tells her that she’ll represent SCCW as best as she can, and make the fans proud. Just like she tries to do every time she steps into the ring.
Tag Team Match
Veronica & Velma Jones vs. The Swole Mates
The Jones Sisters gained the advantage early on. Pattie got caught unaware, her back body drop attempt got countered by Velma Jones and her implant DDT. They used quick tags to try and wear Pattie down. Veronica scored a two count after hitting a flying crossbody to Pattie in the corner, before the tide turned. Pattie countered an Irish whip to the corner with a boot to the stomach before she headed out onto the apron, connecting with a springboard roundhouse kick before tagging out to Granger.
Bricklyn came in like a house on fire, hitting Veronica with a King Kong lariat, before Velma ate a fireman carry backbreaker. A kneeling piledriver took Veronica down again, and Velma got knocked out of the ring with a double dropkick as The Swole Mates combined to hit Veronica Jones with The Brick-Pearcer [Halo Bomb (Brick) with a Springboard Reverse DDT assist (Pattie) combo] for the three count!
Winners: The Swole Mates (8:41)
Backstage…
The three members of GBH are all smiles as they tell Adam & Chino to kiss those titles good-bye. GBH have set those belts in their sights, and nothing – NOTHING! – can stop them from becoming champions now.
Miss Fortune vows that the time has come for GBH to show why they’re the hottest talents in SCCW, and soon…the world.
Ringside…
Romello Tyrell Judge came to the ring before his match to address his recent issues. He admits that Z got the better of him at Overload, and took a clean sweep in their series of matches. But that’s not going to keep RTJ down. He’s been working harder than ever since Overload, and is intent on not letting anything like that happen again. He vows that one day he’ll be a star, that he’ll learn from these losses to stop them from happening again. And that road to the top starts tonight!
Singles Match
Romello Tyrell Judge vs. Noah Ortega
True to his word, RTJ came out swinging as he used his size and strength to his advantage. It started with some basic striking, forearms and elbows to wear Noah down, before RTJ scored a two count off a bridging pumphandle fallaway slam. Ortega managed to get back into the match in the fourth minute when he hit a low dropkick to the knee.
Ortega showed off his athleticism as he hit RTJ with a hiptoss, before cartwheeling into a basement dropkick. The action spilled to the outside as RTJ was mounting a comeback, only to get lowballed as he went for a clothesline and tumbled over the top rope. Noah went high risk with a triangle asai moonsault, but by the time he rolled RTJ back into the ring, he was able to kick out of the pin attempt at two. As the match wound down, RTJ managed to counter a back body drop with a boot to the face before hitting a crucifix cutter. That led to him hitting Croyt’s Wrath for the three count.
Winner: RTJ (9:39)
RTJ celebrated in the ring after the match as Noah recovered on the outside, glaring up at the man who just pinned him before the show cuts backstage.
Backstage…
We cut to the back where we see Wally Lee sitting down on a chair, he has his head propped up with a fist to his chin. His eyes look completely void of all feeling as he sits quietly as McKenna Kingsley is right behind him, slowly rubbing his broad shoulders. Into the frame comes SCCW backstage interviewer Claire James. She has a mic in hand, and a big smile on her face as she approaches Wally.
James opens things up asking Wally about his feelings a few weeks ago at Overload in how close he came to winning his first championship in his wrestling career. Wally stays silent, not even looking over to acknowledge her as his eyes stay fixed on the camera filming him. James awkwardly clears her throat before deciding to move on and ask Wally about his thoughts for his upcoming four way match featuring himself against Zoe Dupont, Goro Matsunaga, and Ria Escárcega. Once again he remains completely wordless as he undoes his fist and slowly begins to rub at his temples.
Claire decides that something has to give as she redirects her line of questioning over to McKenna. McKenna is vocal and asks James, “Isn’t it obvious?”, she continues on telling James and the watching SCCW faithful that Wally is crushed. She says that he works harder than anyone in this place, and it’s resulting in people having to go as low as they possibly can to sneak by him. Kingsley says that Wally is simply fed up with carrying on as if everything is fine, because it is far from fine.
Wally clears his throat holding up a single tapped finger at the side of his face. He speaks firmly but in a reserved tone. Wally says that all he ever wanted to do was impress. He says he works his ass off during training to impress. He says that he wrestles as hard as he does because he wants to impress. He says that Ben Hanson told him when he first joined SCCW, that if he fought hard inside the ring, everyone would fight hard for him outside. He says that the point of everything he does, is to be so excellent that no one has any other choice but to recognize and respect him. He stops momentarily still holding his disinterested gaze towards the cameras.
He then follows up poignantly that he feels that Hanson was feeding him a bunch of bullshit. Wally says that not only does he consistently feel disrespected, but that for all of that work… For all of his attempts to impress everyone, nothing has come from it. He says that no one fought for him when he beat Noah Ortega convincingly a few months ago, and that the very next Sunday Night Slams it was Ortega fighting for a chance to participate in the Hudson Cup, not Wally. He then says that no one fought for him when Murph B had to cheat him out of the Rising Star Championship, because there was no way in hell that she was going to outwrestle him for it.
Wally continues saying that everything he’s done was to impress everyone else… And the person most disappoint in him… Is himself. He says he’s tired of trying to be the guy that keeps his head up, doesn’t make waves, and always does the right thing. He says it’s gotten him absolutely nowhere, and that it’s time to change his approach. He says that from now on, instead of doing something to impress everyone else. He’s going to start doing what impresses himself. He continues on stoically saying that he’s not upset that he doesn’t get a rematch against Murph, that at Overload even though Murph escaped with the belt he proved to everyone that he’s the better wrestler.
He says that’s all he’s done since he stepped into SCCW. “Line them up, and I’ve knocked them all down.” He says that if one thing remains status quo, it’s that he’ll continue to dominate the SCCW roster, one at a time, two at a time, and tonight… Three. He sits up in the chair slowly as his calm look slowly transitions into a fiery, gritty, appearance of frustration and resolve meshed into a nasty scowl. He says that tonight marks the start change… That when his music hits, and he walks through those curtains, Sussex won’t be getting the happy-go-lucky, glad-to-be-here Wally Lee. He says that Sussex is in for a rude awakening as he will rip through anyone one that tries to hold him back from getting the win tonight. Claire makes a motion to speak in response, but McKenna is quicker to gently place a finger against her lips, shushing her quietly with a smile. “I’m not finished speaking.” Wally says as he continues two glare into the camera.
He says that Sussex will see Wally for what he is, and that’s truly the best wrestling talent on the entire roster. He says they better appreciate him for what he does, because between New Kingdom Pro, and SAP, Wally Lee is turning into one of the hottest commodities in the pro wrestling circuit. He says that someday he’ll recognize that he’s a hammerhead shark trying to swim in a pond far to small for him… And that when that day comes, everyone in SCCW will regret not fighting for him. Because if there is no Wally Lee, when why even bother tuning in?
He leaves the interview on this note as he rises from the chair. He takes McKenna by the hand as they exit the frame, leaving Claire by herself. The moment lingers for a few seconds before the cameras fade away as we continue tonight’s edition of Sunday Night Slams.
Singles Match
Zoe Dupont vs. Goro Matsunaga vs. Wally Lee vs. Ria Escárcega
A relatively short match as each of the four competitors took turns to show off their abilities. Ria stepped up first after her and Wally Lee showed off their athletic ability. They traded headscissors and arm drags, flying around the ring at high speed. Lee managed to gain the upper hand, hitting a handspring over the top rope moonsault. But he couldn’t cover and eventually Ria got back into it, hitting Wally Lee with a pop-up flip piledriver. But her pin attempt was interrupted by Goro Matsunaga. The Japanese wrestler worked Ria over for a short period of time, using lariats and backbreakers to wear her down. But his pin attempt was interrupted by Zoe Dupont, who eventually dropped Goro with a DDT. Her pin attempt was interrupted by Wally Lee and a diving dropkick. Soon after he managed to debut his new standing sitout shiranui, and covered Zoe for the three count.
Winner: Wally Lee (7:18)
After the match, Murph B made her way down to the ring to confront Wally Lee. She called him a whiny little bitch boy who wants to claim that he’s the better wrestler – but he’s not the one standing out here with a belt. And that he’s upset that someone else got a chance to compete for the Hudson Cup – when he got a chance to compete for the Rising Star title instead!
Wally is about to respond, but he’s interrupted by the arrival of Ben Hanson. The head trainer joins his students in the ring and tells Wally that he made some good points, so right now Ben’s going to give him a choice. And he needs to decide before SNS #20 in two weeks time. At Vindication Wally Lee can either have a rematch for the SCCW Rising Star Championship, or he can compete for the Hudson Cup. Hanson tells him to think about it before leaving the ring. Murph follows him out, taunting Wally with her title held aloft as Wally is left in the ring to think about the proposition.
